Three practical guides

Coaching & Career Guidance

Coaching Handbook

Available in 6 languages

A practical entry point for youth workers new to coaching. It explains what coaching is, how it differs from other support roles, and how it connects to career guidance.

It offers a toolkit of accessible coaching tools tested in CATCH's five local coaching programmes — usable with no prior coaching background.

Nature-based coaching

Eco-Coaching Manual

Available in 6 languages

A holistic introduction to eco-coaching — an approach grounded in eco-psychology that uses engagement with nature and the community as a resource for personal development.

The first manual to make eco-coaching accessible to youth workers and non-specialists, with practical outdoor methods tested in CATCH's training and local programmes.

Youth coaching competence

Competence Model

Available in 6 languages

Defines what youth coaching competence looks like — the competence areas, criteria and indicators of a qualified youth coach working in social inclusion and youth work.

Built from CATCH's experience together with research, expert interviews and focus groups, it includes a self-assessment so practitioners can evaluate their own development.

COACHING TOOLS for online settings

Coaching tools

Available in English

A practice-based collection of 20 coaching tools adapted for online environments and group coaching. The handbook shows how established coaching methods can be used in remote sessions, digital whiteboards, breakout rooms and group settings.

The tools were developed during the CATCH webinar process by participants working in small teams. Each tool includes basic information, step-by-step instructions, online adaptation, group coaching adaptation, cautions and tips, and theoretical background.

COACHING DEVELOPMENT AND REFLECTION

Coaching Competencies Self-Assessment Tool

Available in English

A practical self-assessment tool designed to help coaches reflect on their current strengths, identify areas for development and set meaningful learning goals. It is structured around the eight core coaching competencies of the International Coaching Federation, including ethical practice, coaching mindset, trust and safety, active listening and facilitating client growth.

For each competency, the tool offers focused reflection questions, a five-point self-assessment scale and space to record personal insights and development needs. It can be used independently, during training programmes, in supervision or as a starting point for an individual professional development plan.

DOCUMENTARY FILM

The CATCH documentary.

From the first training in the Czech Republic, through the eco-coaching intensive in Italy,
to the trainers' training in Slovakia and into the local communities where the real work happened.

From the first training in the Czech Republic, through the eco-coaching intensive in Italy, to the trainers' training in Slovakia — and into the local communities where the real work happened.

It features interviews with participants, coaches and young people who experienced coaching through the project, plus an animated sequence presenting the European Youth Coaching Competence Standard.
