THE LEARNING JOURNEY

A continuous learning

process across

three countries.

The same 20 youth workers and support staff took part in three international

training courses and three webinars. Between activities, they applied what they

learned in their communities: individual clients, group sessions, supervision

and monitoring.

FIRST TRAINING COURSE

Introduction to
coaching competencies

Czech Republic · April 2024

The first training course introduced coaching as a professional practise. What it is, how it works, and what it demands of the coach. Drawing on the 11 coaching competencies defined by the International Coaching Federation. It gave participants their first hands-on experience of coaching tools in a safe supported environment.

They left with a first practical toolkit, a clearer understanding of what becoming a coach requires, and an action plan for putting their skills to work locally.

SECOND TRAINING COURSE

Eco-coaching practises

Italy · November 2024

The second training introduced eco-coaching - an approach grounded in ecopsychology that brings the natural world and community into the coaching processes. Developed by rescogita's Lorenzo Nava. It uses engagement with nature and community as a resource for goal setting, resilience, and a sense of belonging.

Participants experienced outdoor coaching tools directly and explored the theory: Carl Jung's Psychodynamics, Positive Psychology, and the School of Lost Borders tradition. It also served as a midpoint review of local practise so far.

Third TRAINING COURSE

Training for trainers
on coaching tools

Slovakia · May 2025

The final in-person training completed the cycle by equipping participants to pass on what they'd learned. Using non-formal education and experiential learning methods, it covered how people learn, how to design sessions, facilitate group processes, and plan and deliver a local training or coaching tools.

This stage was also a full evaluation. Participants assessed their own development, reviewed their local practise, and consolidated it into action plans for the final phase.

Local action & practice

International training is only
half the story.

International training is only half the story.

From the beginning, CATCH required every competence learned to be put into practice locally — in real communities, with real young people, facing real challenges.

How it worked

After each international activity, participants returned home and applied their coaching skills with local groups. These programmes were monitored and supported by the project team and international trainers, with regular supervision and a system tracking both the coaches' development and the impact on the young people they worked with.

Each partner also had to establish at least two new local partnerships with educational or social organisations — extending coaching beyond the project's immediate circle.

What happened

Across five contexts, more than 150 local participants engaged in coaching individually and in groups. Outcomes included improved goal clarity, stronger motivation, and greater confidence in their own capacity to shape their futures. A group from each context was also trained in coaching tools — so the competences keep spreading within each community.
